CIMO - Center for Research of Fashion and Clothing on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 starting at 7 pm in the Green Action (Frankopanska 1) organizes an interview with Tansy E. Hoskins on the occasion of the forthcoming publication of the translation of her book

Stitched up: The Anti-Capitalist Book of Fashion (published by Sandorf and CIMO). Also, Tansy E. Hoskins will give a lecture entitled Can Fashion Ever be Ethical on Thursday, December 17, at 12 noon. at the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb (Prilaz baruna Filipovića 28a, room A201).

The book Stitched up: The Anti-Capitalist Book of Fashion presents research and critique of the fashion system today, as images of the ultimate glamorization of society, the production of luxuries on the one hand, and the exploitation of human labor in third world countries on the other. The author explores the dazzling world of fashion by precisely analyzing and revealing the hidden and the invisible, all supported by the force of data and statistics that make this critique of "Western" fashion a courageous contribution to revealing the high price of luxury. Moving from Karl Lagerfeld to Karl Marx, the book explores aspects of consumption and advertising, mediation and diffusion of a fashion product, and fashion message.

Book reviewers: Sonja Briski Uzelac and Ankica Čakardić.

Tansy E. Hoskins is a writer, journalist and activist. He writes for the Guardian and Business of Fashion, and edits shows on the BBC, Al Jazeera and Channel 4.
